As a developer, I believe in transparency and learning from mistakes. Here is why this account is no longer active:
-
The GitHub Actions Ban
I previously used an RDP script on GitHub Actions to leverage high‑speed internet. I did not fully realize that using Actions for general‑purpose computing or RDP violates GitHub’s Acceptable Use Policy. -
Failed Recovery
After understanding the mistake, I appealed to GitHub Support. However, because I created multiple accounts during the process (another ToS violation), the restrictions remained permanent. -
Permanent Account Ban
My account associated with the username TalhaAhmedCho has been permanently banned. Because of this, it is no longer possible for me to return to GitHub in any capacity. -
The GitLab Chapter
I am currently using GitLab with a self-hosted runner, which allows me to run my projects more efficiently without depending on limited free CI/CD minutes. -
GitHub Limitation
Although self-hosted runners can technically be added to GitHub, I am unable to use them due to the existing Actions ban on my account. -
Final Decision
Considering all these factors, I have decided not to return to GitHub and will continue my development journey on GitLab.
I take full responsibility for the mistakes made on this account. I was initially encouraged by a tutorial to use RDP for high-speed internet, without fully understanding the implications it had on platform policies and infrastructure. Although I will no longer be using GitHub, this experience has been a significant learning point in my development journey. It helped me better understand platform responsibilities, limitations, and ethical usage of shared resources. Moving forward, I am focused on continuing my work on GitLab with proper and efficient use of available tools and infrastructure.
