Describe your issue
Vite 7 was released today, and at the moment, the @tailwindcss/vite throws a warning.

During pnpm install, we get:

 WARN  Issues with peer dependencies found

└─┬ @tailwindcss/vite 4.1.10
└── ✕ unmet peer vite@"^5.2.0 || ^6": found 7.0.0

While we're waiting for the official support, adding an overwrite to the package.json seems to do the trick for now:

"overrides": {
  "@tailwindcss/vite": {
    "vite": "^7.0.0"
  }
}

For npm users, I bet other package managers have a similar option

I've checked and the tests generally work with Vite 7 so it seems like things work as expected. The next release will have the correct peer dep so the plugin can be used with v7.

In the short term you can try it before we do a release by using our insiders build — it'll probably take 15–30m for it to build and publish:

npm install tailwindcss@insiders @tailwindcss/vite@insiders

Or write traditional CSS and don't use tailwind at all.
