Code Review
This pull request, automatically generated by Snyk, upgrades gatsby
from version 2 to 5 to fix security vulnerabilities. However, this is a major version bump with significant breaking changes. The PR only updates the gatsby
package itself, leaving behind incompatible dependencies like older Gatsby plugins and React 16. This will break the build. My review highlights this critical issue and recommends a more complete upgrade of all related dependencies for the migration to be successful.

Upgrading gatsby
from v2 to v5 is a major change with significant breaking changes. This single dependency update will break the project because other dependencies are now incompatible.
To correctly migrate to Gatsby v5, the following issues must be addressed:
- React Version: Gatsby v5 requires React 18. The project currently uses React 16.
react
andreact-dom
must be upgraded. - Gatsby Plugins: All
gatsby-plugin-*
packages are on versions compatible with Gatsby v2/v3 and must be upgraded to their respective versions compatible with Gatsby v5. - Node.js Version: Gatsby v5 requires Node.js 18+. The repository's root
package.json
specifies a much lower version (>=6.11.5
), which also needs to be updated.
This PR should be updated to include all necessary dependency upgrades for the Gatsby v5 migration to be successful. Otherwise, the example will be broken.
Snyk has created this PR to fix 8 vulnerabilities in the npm dependencies of this project.
Snyk changed the following file(s):
examples/using-styled-components/package.json
