This seems to be the only use of the left_old parameter, can also be removed.

Deprecated in Pillow 8.1.0 (issue #5075, PR #5098).
Support for FreeType 2.7 has been removed.
We recommend upgrading to at least FreeType 2.10.4, which fixed a severe vulnerability introduced in FreeType 2.6 (CVE-2020-15999).
