This isn’t a matter of renaming, it’s a legal/licensing issue and a question of respecting upstream’s terms. Also, I’m not interested in using AI to generate rebranded forks. My time is limited and unpaid, you’re welcome to fork and maintain your own version if it’s that important to you.

This supposed language regarding exceptions to open source Apache license is quite shady. In fact, it's app credence to the license reference attribute and source being Apache 2.0 should be nullified or removed as it is not appropriate IMO.

just to clarify, i do plan to maintain the fork. the issue is that upstream's licensing and recent changes require more effort to keep things compliant, and i haven’t had enough time to handle that properly.

this isn't about giving up, but being realistic about what i can do right now. i'm not interested in quick fixes that ignore the license. if others want to help or fork it themselves, that's totally fine.

understandable, I was just wondering after stumbling across your hub on this subject.

guess I honestly just don't get the issue with the big deal everyone made regarding the license language. I had read it, and it just seemed to me he wants to monetize on it really, with references at the end to all those big app "stores" and firms, i.e. amazon, play store, etc. Just those being off limits in addition to brand/imaging/marketing of name within/through those platforms ever, but I guess I just didn't understand it.

It mentions big appstores, but never mentions GitHub or similar, I'd ask Rikka or someone similarly high power with the project if you are allowed to continue as is. Since you have, I guess all you can do is wait.
