I feel the edges and color of the day's squares are a little different from before. The edges seem to be emphasized more.

Is it just my hallucination? Was the appearance of contributions calendar changed recently? I use soft dark theme. I feel a little uncomfortable with the current appearance …… like Trypophobia? But I didn't have this feeling before.

yeah they definitely made some change like a week ago, and it looks super different and weird...it's harder to see the contributions properly, and itn just looks ugly now. idk why they'd change it, it looked so good before

Yep, GitHub updated the contrib calendar look. Borders are more visible now, esp. in dark mode. It’s for better contrast. If it bothers you, try another theme in settings. You can also send feedback to GitHub. Lots of users noticed it too.
