Pre-built wheels' libjpeg-turbo has no SIMD support on Windows #1058

@shi0rik0

Description

@shi0rik0

I used pip install opencv-python to install the latest cv2 (version: 4.10.0.84) on Windows. The return value of cv2.getBuildInformation() says the libjpeg-turbo is not built with SIMD support. I can build from source by myself to enable the SIMD, but I think it would be better if the pre-built wheels could directly support it.

Expected behaviour

cv2.getBuildInformation() should return:

  Media I/O:
    ZLib:                        build (ver 1.3.1)
    JPEG:                        build-libjpeg-turbo (ver 3.0.3-70)
      SIMD Support Request:      YES
      SIMD Support:              YES

Actual behaviour

It returns:

  Media I/O:
    ZLib:                        build (ver 1.3.1)
    JPEG:                        build-libjpeg-turbo (ver 3.0.3-70)
      SIMD Support Request:      YES
      SIMD Support:              NO

Write here what went wrong.

Steps to reproduce

  • example code:
import cv2
print(cv2.getBuildInformation())
  • operating system: Windows
  • architecture (e.g. x86): x86_64
  • opencv-python version: 4.10.0.84
Issue submission checklist
  • This is not a generic OpenCV usage question (looking for help for coding, other usage questions, homework etc.)
  • I have read the README of this repository and understand that this repository provides only an automated build toolchain for OpenCV Python packages (there is no actual OpenCV code here)
  • The issue is related to the build scripts in this repository, to the pre-built binaries or is a feature request (such as "please enable this additional dependency")
  • I'm using the latest version of opencv-python
