Our previous feature set required `libz-ng-sys` which requires `cmake` which is a non-obvious binary dependency that isn't always satisfied, and which `cargo install` can't install for you. The upside it gives isn't worth the hassle or the maintenance burden here. H/t to @PigeonF for the suggestion in #841.
