Related to #215, here’s a proposal that we’ve been working on to address resolution of import specifiers that refer to files: https://github.com/GeoffreyBooth/node-import-file-specifier-resolution-proposal

This is just a draft, and feedback is welcome; please use the issues in that repo. This builds on and complements the earlier package exports proposal. This is meant to address the import statement part of Phase 2 item 4, “Define semantics for determining when to load sources as CommonJS or ES module for both the top-level main (node x.js) and dependency loading.”

@MylesBorins could this perhaps be added to the agenda? Not to vote on the proposal just yet, but just to have some time to discuss it. Or maybe add it for next time after the group has had time to review it.

Perhaps we should have some implicit time each week to discuss Phase 2 items that people are working on, like maybe each of the smaller groups for each of the Phase 2 items could give an update as to where they’re at?
