The code suggested in #24589 has some conceptual issues and it can't be merged in the core.

It's easier to implement new light types with TSL and WebGPURenderer so I think we should focus on that stack.

If #24589 is only about implementing a different type of spot attenuation, we maybe could add a new attentuationNode to SpotLightNode that allows to customize this effect with TSL. The challenge is to the make the spot light shadow coordinates accessible so they can be used as a part of the attenuation code and thus the direct light term.
