Several mods (Forestry, Project E, Thaumic Energistics) highly recommend a server backup. :) Some (such as Forestry) note that a downgrade of the world is not possible.

Per Forestry's update

Due to major internal changes, worlds loaded with this release can't be downgraded back to an earlier version.

Per this thread post, mods/1.7.10/LibSandstone-1.0.0.jar needs to be removed from the client and server so that a new one (same version; mod authors suck) may be downloaded (if you're fixing issue #23 ).

Xeno's Reliquary update removes some of its files:

A world backup will be automatically created in your saves directory.

Project E updated to 1.7.2 in EverNote. No config changes required.
