Photok is a secure private photo vault for Android that helps you hide photos and videos using strong AES-256 encryption. It protects sensitive media in an encrypted gallery and keeps your private memories safe on your own device.
All files are encrypted locally and only decrypted in memory while you use the app. No cloud upload is required.
Photok is open source, ad-free, and built with a privacy-first philosophy. It is developed by me (Leon) and public volunteers.

Photok is designed for people who want real control over their private photos and videos. Encryption happens on your device, and imported files are only decrypted in memory while the app is in use.
Photok can use minimal privacy-friendly analytics to improve stability and user experience. These analytics are never used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Photok can optionally send anonymous usage statistics to help improve the app.
Telemetry is enabled by default. Users can disable it at any time in the settings.

In addition, Photok will prompt the user to enable telemetry after the first unlock (not during initial setup).
No data is transmitted unless the user has explicitly opted in. This behavior is required to avoid the Tracking anti-feature flag in F-Droid and aligns with user expectations for apps installed from F-Droid.
