LLM output requires a different kind of scrutiny to hand-typed code. Assisted-By: {} commit messages can help reviewers get into the "right" mindset

If lazygit suspects that there's an assistant at play (due to the presence of give-away files like CLAUDE.md, .claude, .gemini, etc), it can provide a checkbox in the commit dialog to append Assisted-By:. the default behaviour can be configured.

I think such a concept is interesting, but I don't see how the implementation would work. These give-away files are often committed into source control, so their presence doesn't truly indicate someone is a user of AI coding tools. For those give-away files that are not in source control, it really would just indicate some level of usage. It doesn't say anything about the contents of a particular commit one is making.

Also, personal opinion, if your flow uses LLM output so heavily that you find yourself losing some confidence in the output of your work, you might as well dive in the deep end and have the AI make your commits for you. After that initial pass, you can do cleanups and squashes via LazyGit, and the Assisted-By footer would already be present.
