There are 2 reasons for switching this of.

  1. It's illegal in the EU to send user data without prior permission.
  2. Google does no longer support this project in any way. So why should we send data to them?

Hi @keinhaar, I think that this PR is sound.
I just wonder if it could make sense to collect usage stats (configurable by flag) on another instance of google analytics

In my opinion this isn't needed at all. I left the possibility to OPT IN, but i don't expect anybody to switch this on.
Switching to another google analytics instance is still illegal in EU, if the user isn't asked for permission.
Also there's a download counter in the Marketplace which will show us usage of the plugin.

I'd personally rather than we find another tool that we control and can be confident in the anonymization provided, or just use the usage numbers from the eclipse marketplace for now.
