Sticky mode isn't sticky

Description
When I use sticky mode it resets to off when I hide the left nav.

Expected behaviour
I expect that the sticky mode setting should stay on once I turn it on unless I explicitly turn it off.

What is happening instead?
When I hide the left nav and then reopen it, sticky mode has been disabled.

Additional context

How to reproduce?

1. Turn sticky mode on
2. Hide the left nav
3. Re-open the left nav

You will observe that sticky mode has turned off.

thanks for opening this issue, it does feel unintuitive.

When sticky sidebar is enabled, the sidebar button to close the sidebar should be disabled.
