OnlyOffice: Add option to open documents in viewer mode

I’d like to be able to open documents in view-only mode, without the possibility to edit them.

Provide a configuration option or parameter to set the default mode (view or edit) when opening a document.

Thinking more boadly, I have a nice plan for view-only documents coming that might make only office irrelevant for many. I plan to add an iframe feature where if your filebrowser has an externalUrl defined (accessible from internet) you can use google drive or outlook webui viewer in filebroweser for an advanced view-only document viewer without any only office integration required.

OnlyOffice provides a config option mode: "view". It might be possible to toggle this dynamically based on user permissions.

Yes, FB now offers a lightweight viewer for Office files, but Excel files are not opening in my case.

My main goal is to use OnlyOffice for viewing Excel files, since Excel documents are usually too complex for other viewers.

Yeah, currently there is no great alternative for viewing files other than onlyoffice.

However, the iframe solution I mentioned is coming soon. It will enable a viewer that is equal to or better than onlyoffice without any integration.

The downsides:

• will need an internet-accessible domain. (having server.externalUIrl defined and valid)
• its view only
• safari may not work, might require kicking out to google or microsoft link.

I could also allow this view-only mode for onlyoffice quite easily. I can do that as well, but I think you may end up preferring the other solution.

Hi... Just as an opinion but I prefer to have all local, without to be going to a third party just to open a file. Plus to that, you can open the files without (or with a very poor) connection to internet without problems.
