.heic files can't be previewed nor opened

.heic files don't have preview and can't be opened.
I've read in the changelog that HEIC files can be preview and/or opened since 0.3.3. Has this changed since?

Context
I am using the main docker image.

What is happening instead?
No preview and a broken picture icon when opening the file.

I'm sorry for the double report, I just installed and am reporting what I encounter ^^'.

Heic support is based on the browser you use, basically only safari works.

Nothing about that has changed, maybe you changed browsers?

Alright, I didn't realize most browsers couldn't read HEIC files :o.

However, this shouldn't impact thumbnail generation. Should it ?

it does in a way, because image preview kicks back to just display the image if conversion isn't possible. (like svg, heic)

But I went back to the 0.3.3 release you are probably referencing and see I did add heic support for previews. But when I check the code I don't see support at that time. I don't remember what happened with that it may be innacurate.

I can certainly add heic support for browsers that don't support it, but it will require backend conversion. Let me check on this and see how demanding that would be.

So I understand the context of the release mentioning support for heic.

If thebrowser supports it (only safari), filebrowser quantum does support file previews and viewing the images. I test on safari and it does work.

But it doesn't work for a good majority of browsers. So, I have a workaround that allows viewing the images via conversion. It's a bit slower and more combersome than I would like, so if people don't like it I will add an option to disable it as well.

But Because of the cost of conversion -- it won't generate thumbnails on non-safari browsers. Only allow opening and viewing.

Thank you for looking at it. Considering the amount of work and the performance cost, are you certain that it is worthwhile ?
I asked because it was in the release notes and one of my users needed it, but the work/usefulness balance doesn't seem too good when reading your message.

added heic conversion support in 0.8.5, disabled by default, but you can give it a try by updating your config.
