Request: Templating SCSS/SASS stylesheets with Tera

It would be wonderful if Zola supported templating the raw .scss and/or .sass stylesheets with Tera right before the Sass compilation stage of zola build happens. Jekyll, Eleventy, Hugo natively support variations of this feature, enabling some very useful and flexible patterns like these:

• Color Theme Switcher | Max Böck

What do you think about this idea? Personally, I would love to be able to use get_url() in my stylesheets to resolve #1409, among other improvements to my Terminus theme.¹

Okay, I've created a proof-of-concept of this feature over here in my personal fork of Zola:

This implementation simply pre-processes all .scss and .sass files in the sass/ directory through Tera, just before sass::compile_sass() is called. Only the global site's config and the regular Tera functions and filters, including get_url(), are exposed.

If folks like the overall direction of this feature, I'm more than happy to turn this into a proper PR and get everything polished up to Zola's contribution standards! 😊

I think we can add that, but probably not right now. Let's switch to tera2 first and then we can see. I also wanted to be able to just use CSS via lightningcss instead of just Sass since I think CSS is now good enough to not need Sass anymore? Sass would still be supported but not the recommended path anymore.

Sounds great! Hopefully the migration to Tera2 is coming soon, as I'd love to open a fast-follow PR if you like the general idea.
