Latest Elecraft K4 Rig Model Missing in v0.48?

I have been running QLog v0.46.2 on an older PC, but am now moving QLog to a new PC. Both PC's are running the latest version of Ubuntu (24.04).

In v0.46.2, the Elecraft K4 showed up twice under Rig Model; the "Elecraft K4 (20230318.25)" and the "Elecraft K4 (20250515.32) ". I selected the 20250515.32 version and it has worked well.

I installed QLog on the new PC today, and I noticed that the version is now v0.48.0. In configuring the Rigs dialog, I've matched the settings with what I used in v0.46.2 except for the Rig Model. I now see only one Rig Model for the K4, and it's 20230318.25. I can't seem to get this version to connect to the rig, whether I use serial or network settings.

Is anyone else having this issue? I don't know for certain that the Rig Model profile is the problem, but I can't see anything else that is different. Assuming the profile is the issue, how can I get the 20250515.32 Rig Model back into QLog?

What version of HamLib do you have? You can see in the About window in QLog.

On the Mac I have version 4.7 - I pulled in a test version to see how it worked. But typically it is 4.7.

That makes perfect sense why it's not working for you. See what I wrote above.

Honestly, I’m not sure whether the K4 works under Hamlib 4.5.5 or only starting from 4.6.x or 4.7. I don’t own this rig, so I can’t test it. But Ubuntu 24.04 ships with Hamlib 4.5.5, which includes the K4 driver 20230318.25. If that one didn’t work for you, you have two options:

1. Use the Flatpak version, which always has the latest Hamlib — or rather the second latest, since 4.7 hasn’t passed my review yet (it was officially released 3 days ago).

2. Recompile QLog from source against Hamlib 4.7 from the repository — this approach is quite complex and I only recommend it to those who know what they're doing.

Unfortunately, I don’t have another option for you.

I installed Ubuntu 24.0.3 in a Parallels VM and it connects fine to my K4 using the network connection:

Okay, I will uninstall Qlog and try installing the Flatpak version. I have compiled applications from source before, but that doesn't seem necessary if the Flatpak installation is an option.

As expected, installing via Flatpak fixed the problem. Thanks very much for helping me figure out what I had done wrong and getting it set up on my new PC.

After using HRD for more than 20 years, I was afraid I would have trouble finding a suitable logging program now that I've moved to Linux. But QLog is a fantastic alternative.
