I think technically yes, but not in a way we'd like to stabilize. But why is this a 1.0-worty feature?

It's not, but we need to know it's possible to stabilize in the future in a non-breaking way. We will be refining this list of issues with the 1.0-blocker, so don't assume we're doing it just because it has the label.
