I understand that IRCv3 side of things is going on at ircv3/ircv3-specifications#339 and they are missing implementations for figuring out potential isssues.

Personally I am missing metadata for things like pronouns, URL, proof that the account belongs to me and what I am using the particular account to, which on Atheme/Libera.Chat I have done with /msg NickServ set property <key> <value>. It would be nice if atheme2json.py would be able to import those.

Additionally I understand that IRCCloud sets avatars via METADATA on servers supporting it and coerce-ident breaks IRCCloud avatars.

As a curiosity, Keyoxide also uses SET PROPERTY/TAXONOMY for identity confirmations for IRC.

Why in the hell would you need pronouns, on a IRC server? Just put them in your nickname and stop begging for attention

I find myself missing this for Keyoxide again (while previously I just called it as a curiosity). Keyoxide could be another proof of identity and help with person managed password reset process by being another proof of identity and also linking the account to other profiles even if the original registered email was down.

For example my Keyoxide profile confirms that my LiberaChat accounts belong to me.

I would definitely like to see an implementation of ircv3/ircv3-specifications#501 in Ergo, but I don't have the time to do it myself.

Just wanted to follow up on this... I think metadata would be a pretty useful feature for categorization and for linking to external services?
