Question: Is SourceLink available using a Bonobo git server

I would like to know whether it's possible to use SourceLink in combination with a on premise Bonobo Git Server. I would like to be able to step-through my NuGet packages (which are using the .NET Core framework).
As far as I know this is currenlty only possible using SourceLink. Would this require me to migrate my Git repos to a Git Server that's supported by SourceLink?

Source Link is not limited to any specific source control server. The only requirement on the server is that it supports fetching raw source files given a repository url, commit sha an a relative path within the repository in some form. If the format of the raw URL matches GitHub Enterprise, GitLab or BitBucket you might be able to just reuse the implementation for these providers. If not you can implement a custom one. To do so you can start by copying one of the projects in this repository, e.g.

Thank you, that clarifies a lot. Only thing I'm wondering about is the way authentication is handled here. Accessing source files from my private repository requires logging in on the Git Server.

As long as Bonobo supports basic HTTP auth the VS debugger will be able to authenticate.

Is there any documentation available of transforming the GitLab project into a custom project?
I currently have https://github.com/dotnet/sourcelink/tree/master/src/SourceLink.GitLab checked out and added it as a reference to my library project, which I want to pack as a NuGet package. Would this also be okay? Or do I first have to make the custom SourceLink.Bonobo available as a NuGet Package?
Upon packaging my library I now receive several warnings, like:

Source control information is not available - the generated source link is empty.

and an error:

The package ID 'fake_packageid_for_project_Microsoft.SourceLink.Bonobo' contains invalid characters. Examples of valid package IDs include 'MyPackage' and 'MyPackage.Sample'. C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk\2.1.503\Sdks\NuGet.Build.Tasks.Pack\build\NuGet.Build.Tasks.Pack.targets 202

When trying to set the Package Id of the Microsoft.SourceLink.Bonobo project, it seems to reset back to 'fake_packageid_for_project_Microsoft.SourceLink.Bonobo'.

Are there any resources available which could tell me how to setup such a custom SourceLink project?
What are the steps I should take before tweaking the URL's of the original SourceLink GitLab project?
