the -faidx argument was first added to bedtools sort command in the version directly after the decade old version currently in use:
arq5x/bedtools2@83c6faa

Background: both of these changes require features added to bedtools only within the version subsequent to the currently in use version.

Query: do we swap to the next newer version (from still almost a decade ago), or just swap to the latest version possibly introducing bigger changes?

Jumping to the latest version is fine. Unless the developer sucks and the latest version just segfaults even in the most common use cases. (Looking at you dragmap!)
