Icons create duplicate ID across the page.

Bug, feature request, or proposal:

Pages should not have duplicate id. However, material uses id attribute to display icons, which creates duplicate id's across the page. It would be great if we can use an attribute other than id.

What is the use-case or motivation for changing an existing behavior?
