How to use angular material Selection List

What is the expected behavior?

I should be able to set the model that is sync with Selection List like what is done with MatSelect.

What is the current behavior?

I don't know how to sync the state of Selection List with a model.

What is the use-case or motivation for changing an existing behavior?

Have a list that contains checkbox that are not related to anything is not very usefull.

Which versions of Angular, Material, OS, TypeScript, browsers are affected?

Is there anything else we should know?

I'm also interested in knowing how to handle this case in another way, Like with ViewChild or anything else. I'm stuck to find a clean way currently.

There is an open PR (#7456), which brings in ngModel support for the selection-list.
