organizing items in CSW-derived data catalog

At the Alaska Science Center ScienceBase community (https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/item/56b3ee22e4b0cc79997fb64b) the items are organized under child items. To organize records in a data catalog returned through a CSW query to that community with the same names, I could manually build groups in my json initialization file (maybe I would want to do that anyway if we don't change the names of the current items) and then create a getRecordsTemplate for each group, but maybe there is possibly a built in method to do this?
