Deprecation of Docker Image Format V1 and Docker Image manivest version 2

Today (2025-05-03) I tried to pull image perl:5.10.1. I've got an deprecation notice:

$ docker pull perl:5.10.1
5.10.1: Pulling from library/perl
[DEPRECATION NOTICE] Docker Image Format v1 and Docker Image manifest version 2, schema 1 support is disabled by default and will be removed in an upcoming release. Suggest the author of docker.io/library/perl:5.10 to upgrade the image to the OCI Format or Docker Image manifest v2, schema 2. More information at https://docs.docker.com/go/deprecated-image-specs/

it will be nice of you to rebuild images to circumvent this deprecation

We don't control the publication of older images once we contribute them to https://github.com/docker-library/official-images, and it is also not a problem limited to Perl images either - see docker-library/official-images#16997 (and in particular, https://github.com/tianon/oci-schema1 might be of interest.)
