What steps can reproduce the bug?

Send out a team of agents. Hit esc to cancel them.

What is the expected behavior?

Hitting esc stops subagents cleanly without errors.

Additional information

Not sure if relevant or not but the subagents were making MCP calls, could be related to #1296
