I've recently had renewed need for this project so I jumped in again. Per our conversation in #4, I've made a bunch of improvements and fixed a few bugs. Error handling is especially better in this iteration.
I understand if this is out of scope for your project. I'm happy to maintain a parallel branch if you don't want to merge this.
