I also note the version is 0.1.0. Should we jump straight to 1.0.0? You should use 0.1 only if you anticipate breaking changes to the API in the near future. |

Yeah I also think setting the version as 1.0.0 is better. |

I didn't copy the polished docstrings over to the README; let's get them to the point where we are both happy with them first, and then I can copy the result to the README.
