Add bookmarks to sidebar?

Is it possible to attach bookmarks as part of sidebar? I don't want to use essentials, as they hog memory quite substantially and are treated as tabs when I try to switch between other opened tabs. Having bookmarks stacked on top or bottom in a grid form would be fantastic.
