Being in the Cherokee Nation right now, it's at least a 3 hour drive in the shortest direction to get out from being over one of the largest oilfields on Earth. It's common for people to use oil wells, batteries, pipeline inspection sites and pipeline valve sites as landmarks, especially in rural and wilderness areas where there's not a lot of obvious and permanent landmarks that stand out, if they're not working on that stuff themselves. Having oil batteries, valves, etc easily added from within SC would be amazing. Could also potentially be useful to have rechecked periodically. Halflife of oilfield sites is about 7 years so there's probably hundreds I've mapped that would be due for that immediately. Potential followup for an "is this still here?" no answer would be if the site appears to have been cleaned up or if it appears to have merely been abandoned, with clean-up being delete it, and abandoned tagging abandoned=yes, since abandoned wells potentially present a mortal hazard in the form of a miles-deep hole. |

I have no massive experience with them, but they seem to fit well.
They are in iD presets. For now I added them to https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tcLm0EDWoCBdkq1N0pKebtksJcF2vMtUgKc9h96fuF0/edit?tab=t.0
they had cameo in #5373 and were not mentioned in #4912 or that online doc before my edit
if you have opinions/thoughts - feel free to comment!
(opening discussion only as it is digression from planing a cycling trip to visit some of them, turns out that some are present near Kraków)
