I tried reinstalling rbenv, did brew upgrade, brew update and reinstall couple of packages. nothing worked.

Hi,

I see from your log that ruby-build detected OpenSSL installed via Homebrew to /usr/local/opt/[email protected]. However, on Apple Silicon machines, Homebrew is typically installed under the /opt/homebrew prefix. Also, the error message about LDFLAGS mentions the /opt/homebrew/opt/[email protected]/lib path, but I suspect that location doesn't exist.

1. Can you investigate as to why is your Homebrew installation not under /opt/homebrew? Have you previously migrated your OS from an Intel machine to an Apple Silicon one?
2. Can you check env | grep LDFLAGS to see whether you have environment variables set that could affect LDFLAGS?
3. Since Homebrew on your machine isn't under /opt/homebrew, do you have any idea where the /opt/homebrew/opt/[email protected]/lib path could come from?

Hi, please check the wiki in this repo for known issues and potential workarounds. I seem to recall that building Ruby 3.0 on a modern Mac requires at least a manually applied patch, since that version of Ruby is unmaintained and doesn't receive fixes anymore. If you still cannot get it to build, searching for your exact error message (and sharing it when asking questions on a forum) might help you get unstuck.

@ABHISHEK22029 From the error message you've shared, it looks like you are not using this project (ruby-build) at all. Instead you are using RVM, which is another tool for installing and managing Ruby versions. If you need support for RVM, you will have to ask elsewhere: https://rvm.io/support
