hi. i wanna access ICESAT-2 data via earthaccess. i tried this code but after i typed my username, it doesnt affect anything. any solution? thank you

It looks like your cursor is still at the end of your username, so you may not have pressed Enter/Return. Did you press Enter/Return?

i did, but impact nothing. i see on tutorial it will ask for password, but mine is not working well.

Hi @widyanigalih! Can you please report how you installed earthaccess and which version (pip list or conda list or earthaccess.__version__)

It looks like you're using vscode. I attempted to reproduce with vscode and wasn't able to. Can you try two separate things:

1. Try outside of vscode; start a REPL (Read Eval Print Loop) by activating your virtual environment then running python; in this environment run import earthaccess; earthaccess.login(). Does the same thing happen?
2. If so, could you record a short video with https://gifcap.dev or your tool of choice?

thank you for helping me, sorry for late reply. to installed earthaccess, i was following youtube tutorial and they said i just need to go to setting and do the install. but let me try your suggestion

Can you clarify? You attempted to login from a plain terminal without VSCode and you experienced the same behavior? We need some more details as well. Please be extra thorough so we have enough information to help!

• What have you tried so far? Please be exhaustive (including those questions above ☝️).
• What version of earthaccess are you using? If you haven't tried the latest version, please upgrade to 0.14.0.
• What operating system? Windows? Are you using WSL?

Hi @widyanigalih. Like @mfisher87 says, more details will get you better answers. But we understand you are just getting started!

I can tell you have a virtual env (.venv) in PyCharm and have earthaccess installed through the PyCharm settings. I can't tell for sure if you have Version 0.14.0, but I'll assume you do. That's all good.

I can't get the "Run" or "Debug" tools to give me a prompt, so the Console is what you need. Here's me doing it in PyCharm. Note that I don't type in the correct password (for privacy) and get an error. But then the video skips to showing auth.authenticated is True.

Use that earthaccess.login(persist=True) command once in the Console and that will write your credentials to a file. THEN your script should work without needing you to provide credentials again.

yes, @itcarroll has it! In PyCharm:

• The Python Console is the Python interpreter where you can interactively work
• Run executes a script and is similar to having run python test.py in a terminal (on the command line)
• Debug is like Run, except if you put a breakpoint in, or an exception is thrown, it will pause and give you an interpreter to mess around with. This is similar to putting a pbd breakpoint in a script and running the script.
