Project status following June 2025 roadmap update

Hello,

Following the latest roadmap update (#1484) which states that:

the gRPC-Web project is no longer able to deliver new, modern solutions for the open source community. As a result, we do not plan to be adding new features going forward.

Should the readme indicate that this is not suited for new projects?
Or should it at least feature the same warning as the roadmap document?

What is the status of this project?

We’re currently working on the TypeScript migration, which will bring improvements to the developer experience and keep the project evolving.

Is said TypeScript migration explained somewhere?

Currently, the roadmap reads:

We recommend you to use gRPC-Gateway as an alternative.

Is that still the case? Indeed, gRPC-Gateway seems fine, but its browser client code generation does not match what I am looking for (either OpenAPI-based, but server streaming does not really fit OpenAPI as far as I can see, or the grpc-gateway-ts protoc plugin, but it looks unmaintained and does not support proto3's optional fields).

I am a bit confused about what is the recommended story for browser-based gRPC service consumption nowadays / in the foreseeable future.
I am looking for TypeScript API client codegen with at least unary + server streaming support. gRPC-web seems to be working just fine at the moment, but the warning in the roadmap is concerning.
