Blender 5.0 Cache Folder Issue - Fixed! 🎉
TL;DR
If you're on Blender 5.0 and can't set the cache folder (browse button does nothing, or
TypeError: this type doesn't support IDProperties), I've created a working fix!Download the fixed addon here: #1004
The Problem
Many users (including me) hit this issue in Blender 5.0:
TypeError: this type doesn't support IDPropertiesRoot Cause
Blender 5.0 removed IDProperties support from AddonPreferences. The old code used dictionary-style property access (
self.get()andself["property"]) which no longer works.The Solution
I worked with AI to create a fix that:

Installation
That's it! Cache folder now works.
New Features in the Fix
Two helpful buttons in Basemaps preferences:
Both print detailed info to the console for debugging.
