Syntax highlighting for a custom language

first of all thank you for ecode; it's fantastic!!!
I wonder if it's possible to add syntax highlighting for a custom language. Are there any documentations? Is it mandatory to create an LSP?

Yeah, sure it's possible and you can start with very simple implementations that might be enough for your use case. Documentation is here. Language definitions can be very simple or very complex, depending on the creators intention, take a look at the example at the bottom of the document, most languages use something similar to that. Feel free to ask anything.

Is it mandatory to create an LSP?

Not at all! LSP is just complimentary.
