That's very interesting... I'm wondering if there would be an easier way for the developers to implement this on their projects.
Say, the original entity could be annotated as translatable and each field as translatable fields, so the related Translation entity could be generated in the background instead of manually creating it. And maybe the original entity could even extend a base translatable entity so the translate method doesn't have to be created for each entity.
Haven't really gone deeper into that, but it seems viable.

need to ad a property assignation in the translation getter. If not, the validation only works for the first translation.

Like this:

/**
* @Assert\Valid
*/
public function getEnTranslation()
{
$this->en_trans=$this->translate('en');
return $this->translate('en');
}

If no, the validation only works for the first translation getter.

I had in my entity:  getEnTranslation() {...} , then getEsTranslation() {...}, and the validation only worked for getEnTranslation.

If I reversed, first getEsTranslation() {...} and then getEnTranslation {...}, then the validation only worked for getEsTranslation()...

After a lot of testing, it works after the property assignation for each getter. Is this a bug or is a better way to do it?

I got a problem when displaying the form in my view, it works fine is I use {{ form_rest(form) }}, but when I try to display one field at a time, like : {{ form_row(edit_form.frTranslation.active)}}, I got the following error : 

Method "frTranslation" for object "Symfony\Component\Form\FormView"
does not exist in EgzaktBackendSectionBundle:Section:edit.html.twig at
line 17

The method exists in my Section class :

Hey guys!
Thanks for this great article.Everything is workiing fine except one tiny thing : I can't find the way to render the form using the Twig Engine on the view side. This might be possible as if I leave "{{ form_rest(form) }}", Twig is rendering the form properly.The question is : "How to do it by myself?".

I made it similar to this, except for the Proxy part. I don't use
any proxy for each entity, and instead of using getFrTranslation,
getEnTranslation, I use getTranslation and it uses the current "edit"
locale, which is stored in session.

I made magic __call(), __get(), __set() and __isset() to use the
translated value when calling a translated property on an object.

So, when calling $entity->name, it calls $entity->getTranslation()->getName() (if a "translations" property exists).

In my form, I simply use this :

public function buildForm(FormBuilder $builder, array $options)

{

    $builder->add('translation.active', 'checkbox', array('label' => 'Active'))

            ->add('translation.name', null, array('label' => 'Name'))

            ->add('translation.slug', null, array('label' => 'Slug'))

            ->add('translation.pageTitle', null, array('label' => 'Page title'))

            ->add('translation.headCode', null, array('label' => 'Head code'));

}

Everything is working really fine, except for the validation part.

My translation fields don't get validated, even if I got :

Company\Backend\SectionBundle\Entity\SectionTranslation:

    properties:

        name:

            - NotBlank: ~

Any idea?

Any idea of how to solve it ?

I tried to declare my "MyEntity" to implement this interface but it throws me another error ...

There recently Translatable behavior is being upgraded to support direct relations. It alsp will include all features like query hints, or automatic translations based on locale used. https://github.com/l3pp4rd/... I think it is able to use this translator proxy and has more native features it might be needed. More documentation will come up

I created a form field like this:
    public function buildForm(FormBuilder $builder, array $options){        $builder->add('deTranslation.text', 'textarea', array('label' => 'DE', 'required' => false));        $builder->add('frTranslation.text', 'textarea', array('label' => 'FR', 'required' => false));    }

now when i add a collection field to the main form and use as parameter "type" the field above.. the translation were saved.. but for each language it creates one entry.. (see screenshot) anyone knows how to solve that?

 in twig catch an error  with error as there 's no method Called ShortDescription () in  book entity.

I made a different approach to make an i18n form with personal translations.
This way you dont need to add methods to your entity for every language you wish to show.

to:

    protected function configureFormFields(FormMapper $formMapper)    {        $formMapper            ->with('General')                ->add('title', 'translatable_field', array(                    'field'                      => 'title',                    'personal_translation' => 'ExampleBundle\Entity\Translation\ProductTranslation',                    'property_path'        => 'translations',                ))            ->end()        ;    }

The only downside is that there is no validation.

Hi when type the command php app/console doctrine:generate:entities Acme return Fatal error: Declaration of Acme\StoreBundle\Entity\CategoryTranslation::setTranslatable() must be compatible with that of Gedmo\Translator\TranslationInterface::setTranslatable() in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/social/src/Acme/StoreBundle/Entity/CategoryTranslation.php on line 12

Try passing fully qualified name to proxy, this helped me:

return new \Gedmo\Translator\TranslationProxy($this, $locale,array('name'),'\Acme\DemoBundle\Entity\PersonTranslation.php', $this->translations);

Hi,
I did everything according to instructions, but I got the one error.I put on two fields NotBlank(). But for some reason validation is triggered twice. Wherein the second time always returns false. ie validation can never be successful.For clarity, you can see my screenshot.http://image.paperplane.su/forms.j... I remove NotBlank() of the proxy, the validation is lost and submiting form is successfully, but there is no validation.Help me, please!

Any idea how to write a DQL query to retrieve a collection of translated entities? cool solution, but generates a lot of queries
